Agricultural Buildings
Fettes Sawmill now Challow Agents
CHALLOW have been providing quality, stylish buildings since 1965 and offer a wide range of general purpose and specialist layouts, reflecting over 40 years of experience in the industry.
The range of structures enhance the natural beauty of the timber and their natural timber elevations complement the environment and are widely approved by planning authorities. The low roof pitches keep the ridge height relatively low, reducing the impact of the building on the landscape. This, together with the coloured roof and boarded sides, make the CHALLOW designs particularly suitable for environmentally sensitive areas.
Timber buildings have a more inviting appearance with bright, airy interiors. They are easily fixed to or extended and they have a long maintenance free life. Timber frames make superb buildings for livestock. The layouts are correctly proportioned to make full use of their space. Use of the optional stock walling adds further to the economy and flexibility of the shell. The comfortable feel of timber buildings are preferred by livestock and stockmen alike. A standard building gives maximum economy and speed and accuracy of construction – we only designate a product a Challow standard when it has been proved ideal for its purpose.
General Purpose
Tanalised softwood, either portal frame or monopitch, in a range of spans to suit your needs. A variety of cladding is available including open boarding, closed boarding, shiplap boarding or box profile steel sheeting.
Livestock Housing
Tanalised softwood, either portal frame, monopitch or propped span with a central feed passage, in a variety of sizes to suit your needs. An economical design for larger spans.
Cubicle Housing
The specialist cubicle houses are purchased because of their design and relative economy. Experience has shown that if well built (and Challow use hardwood at all impact positions and sandwich all vulnerable rails) they are difficult to beat for results. They have superb natural ventilation, are simple to build and can easily be extended. They have the mellow timber environment which livestock prefer. The proof can be seen nationwide in mature units in excellent condition – as are the cows housed in them.
